Leeds United are looking strong in the Premier League so far, but the same cannot be said for others who might be under pressure already, including Fulham.
Such has Leeds’ start to the season and form throughout 2026 that even a defeat to Arsenal has left us Whites fans and neutrals impressed.
After six games, we remain on nine points in seventh. Elsewhere in the table, though, some of our rivals are feeling the pressure already.
Fulham weighing up Alvaro Arbeloa sack decision already after winless start
While Leeds have only just seen our unbeaten run end, many people’s outside shout for relegation are yet to pick up three points.
Fulham replaced Marco Silva with Alvaro Arbeloa, lost Harry Wilson to us, and backed the Spaniard with multiple big signings.
It’s not materialised into a win yet, with Fulham rock bottom on two points, drawing twice and losing four. Their latest loss is the most damning yet, letting a lead slip in the 88th minute vs Ipswich, and then losing deep in stoppage time.
That has left Arbeloa already on the brink. The Standard’s Sam Tabuteau reports this week that Arbeloa has two games to save his Craven Cottage job: Hull City (H) and Coventry City (A).
Three successive games against newly-promoted sides need to yield some wins for Arbeloa and Fulham. But, one of that trio has already brought another loss, and he could be staring down the barrel soon.
Fulham may be in big trouble as Alvaro Arbeloa stares as possible sacking
Fulham are yet to lose a league game by more than one goal. They’re staying in games even if they’re not getting points on the board that their chance creation may warrant.
However, it’s a results business. And Arbeloa needs to win games soon; otherwise, there could be a casualty in the dugout already.
Knowing that Leeds’ main objective this season is still to stay up, seeing another club floundering like this is ideal.
If we keep doing what we’re doing in the coming weeks, we’ll be nowhere near that sort of conversation. Fulham, meanwhile, may have a different man in the dugout when they come to Elland Road just before Christmas.
