**Frank Lampard hailed Coventry’s spirit and work ethic after their impressive 4-1 win over Newcastle.**
Coventry picked up their second win of the Premier League season thanks to goals from Jack Rudoni, Sidiki Cherif, Ellis Simms and Stephen Mfuni, and Lampard hailed his side’s complete performance.
“We played like the team we wanted to be here,” Lampard said.
“So much spirit and energy in the group.
“We know we’re going to have to suffer this season a lot in games and there were periods when they had the ball. We have to understand the level for what it is.”
Lampard was particularly pleased with his players’ effort and felt Coventry had perhaps been due a little more fortune after some frustrating results earlier in the season.
“But the work ethic of the boys, the belief, great finishes,” he added.
“We haven’t quite had that rub of the green so far this season which might have helped us nick a couple more points than we’ve got.
“It was a complete performance.
“We’ve got to keep our feet on the ground because it’s only one and we’ve got 30 plus more of those, but it’s a great feeling for the players.”
