Newcastle United’s 4-1 hammering against Coventry City was compounded by a fresh injury concern.
Jack Rudoni’s penalty gave the hosts the lead just six minutes in before Sidiki Cherif doubled the advantage early in the second half.
Sven Botman pulled one back for the Magpies with a long distance strike but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation after Ellis Simms and Stephen Mfuni put the Sky Blues out of sight inside the remaining 10 minutes.

Matthias Jaissle reacts as Newcastle United beaten by Coventry City
It was Newcastle’s second Premier League defeat of the campaign and the second time they’ve lost 4-1 on the road after losing to Leeds United.
"We're frustrated definitely,” said United head coach Matthias Jaissle. “The lads as well in the dressing room, it's a feeling you don't want to have when you feel as though you should have won. We can only apologise to the fans that took the journey.
“We need to analysis it clearly, especially in the box, at both ends. The desire and hunger to score, to finish the attacks, that was missing.

"It's never nice to concede a goal but we had the approach after half time to come out and turn it around. The lads believed so we made the first goal and momentum was on our side. That's something also we need to learn that in a risk zone you cannot lose the ball.
“You cannot invite the opposition to score the third one, then it's going to be difficult."
A fresh injury concern for Newcastle United
Ahead of the match, Newcastle welcomed back Nico Gonzalez, Joelinton, Will Osula, Dan Burn and Amar Dedic from injury but the night was compounded by another potential injury for Bazoumana Toure.
Toure was brought on the 59th minute but had to be withdrawn in the closing stages.
Providing an update, Jaissle said: "Let's see. It's too early to say anything. Hopefully it's nothing serious."
Newcastle, who are still without Jacob Ramsey, Anthony Elanga and Tino Livramento, next face Aston Villa at St James’ Park on Saturday evening.
