Oxford United cast eyes over former Ipswich Town midfielder ahead of potential move

Oxford United have enjoyed a strong start to the 2026/27 campaign despite a transfer embargo limiting their summer business. OUFC have eyes on January, when the restrictions will be lifted, and one man on their radar is young midfielder Abube Onuchukwu.

According to Football League World, the U’s have brought 20-year-old Onuchukwu in on trial. The teenager is training with the League One club as they weigh up a move and he looks to find a new home after leaving Ipswich Town at the end of his contract in the summer.

Onuchukwu was also on the books of Aston Villa as a youngster. While with Ipswich Town, he gained experience out on loans with Chelmsford City, Billericay Town and Wingate & Finchley before his release.
