Federico Gatti is often overlooked at Juventus, despite the commitment and determination he brings to the team. Although the defender has shown plenty of heart when representing the Bianconeri, questions remain about whether his technical ability meets Luciano Spalletti’s expectations.
Spalletti is a manager who knows what he wants from his players, and Gatti has struggled to establish himself under his leadership. Juventus have also strengthened their defensive options with the arrival of Jhon Lucumi, making competition for places even tougher for the Italian defender.
Gatti could get another opportunity
Lucumi’s arrival has made it more difficult for Gatti to secure regular playing time, and the defender has been on the fringes of the squad in recent weeks. He understands his situation, but he will be eager to take any opportunity to demonstrate that he still has something to offer.
That chance could arrive when Juventus face Celta Vigo in the Europa League this week. Spalletti is expected to make changes to his starting line-up, potentially allowing several players who have struggled for minutes to feature.
According to Tuttojuve, Gatti is among the players expected to return to the team for the fixture. The anticipated changes could give him an opportunity to prove his worth and remind the manager that he can still contribute to the defensive unit.

Gatti’s future could depend on playing time
The match could be important for Gatti as he looks to improve his position within the squad. A strong performance would give him a chance to strengthen his case for more opportunities, although one appearance may not be enough to change his standing immediately.
Regular football will be particularly important if he hopes to return to contention for the Italian national team. Remaining on the bench for much of the season could make that ambition harder to achieve.
If his situation does not improve, Gatti could consider asking to leave Juventus in the summer in search of a club where he can play more consistently. For now, the potential opportunity against Celta Vigo gives him a chance to show Spalletti that he deserves a bigger role.
