MADRID (AP) - Atletico Madrid captain Jorge "Koke" Resurrección will not play in the Champions League game against Manchester United on Tuesday after his mother died.
Atletico said Koke´s mother, Ana Merodio Borja, died early Tuesday in Madrid. It did not provide a cause of death.
Atletico added UEFA authorized a moment of silence before the game at Metropolitano Stadium, and its players will wear black armbands.
A moment of silence will also be observed ahead of Atletico's Youth League match. Koke's brother, Borja Resurrección, is an assistant coach of Atletico's under-19 squad.
The club's flag outside the Metropolitano is flying at half-staff.
