Nicklas Bendtner has expressed his hope that Juventus can complete a move for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg as the Bianconeri continue to consider strengthening their midfield. The former Arsenal striker knows what it means to play for the Italian club, having spent the 2012/2013 season on loan in Turin.

Bendtner joined Juventus from Arsenal hoping to earn a permanent move to the Allianz Stadium. However, an injury during the second half of the campaign kept him out of action for an extended period, preventing him from making the impression needed to secure a longer stay.

Juventus maintain interest in Hojbjerg

Juventus were interested in Hojbjerg last summer, and the Danish midfielder was reportedly open to joining them. However, the Bianconeri could not reach an agreement with Olympique Marseille to complete the transfer.

Their interest has continued, with a possible move in January now being considered. Marseille are reportedly willing to let the midfielder leave as they look to raise funds and reduce their wage commitments.

Hojbjerg could offer Juventus experience and stability in midfield, but a deal will depend on whether the clubs can agree on suitable terms. The Bianconeri will need to decide how best to strengthen its squad while working within its financial plans.

Bendtner backs a potential move

Hojbjerg rejected an opportunity to join Newcastle United in the summer and could be interested in a different challenge. Having previously played for Tottenham and Southampton, another move to England may not be his preferred option.

Bendtner has now shared his thoughts on the possibility of Hojbjerg joining Juventus, expressing his support for the move while acknowledging how much the club has changed since his own spell there.

Speaking about the transfer rumours, Bendtner said via Tuttomercatoweb:

“He did very well in England, now he plays in France with Marseille and is the captain of the national team. Juventus are clearly rebuilding and it would be interesting to see them there. But compared to when I was there, everything is very different today.”

Whether Hojbjerg eventually arrives in Turin will depend on negotiations with Marseille and the midfielder’s own decision about his next career move.
