Valon Behrami has assessed Randal Kolo Muani’s struggles at Juventus after watching the French forward during their 1-1 draw against Cagliari. The striker had opportunities to score more than once, but his failure to take several chances has raised further questions about his confidence in front of goal.

Juventus struggled during the first half, but they improved after the break and created enough opportunities to win the match. Their inability to convert those chances ultimately proved costly, leaving the Bianconeri frustrated by the dropped points.

Kolo Muani’s missed chances raise concerns

When Nick Woltemade came off the bench, Cagliari’s defence had to pay greater attention to the German forward. That appeared to give Kolo Muani more space to operate, and he responded by scoring a goal and missing at least two further opportunities.

However, one particular moment caught Behrami’s attention. Rather than taking a shot when the opportunity presented itself, Kolo Muani allowed the ball to run through for a teammate. The decision raised concerns about whether the Frenchman trusted his own ability to finish the chance.

For a player who has yet to meet expectations at Juventus, such hesitation could be costly. Strikers need confidence to make decisive choices in front of goal, especially when opportunities arise during closely contested matches.

Behrami questions Kolo Muani’s confidence

Behrami believes the incident revealed something about the forward’s state of mind. Speaking about the moment, he suggested that Kolo Muani was not sufficiently convinced of his own ability to take responsibility and shoot.

The former midfielder shared his assessment via Calciomercato:

“It means that at that moment he was not convinced of his qualities.

“But I believe that a situation like this should have been exploited maliciously, but instead it seems to me that he was afraid of making mistakes. And that’s the worst thing that can happen to a player.”

The criticism highlights the importance of confidence for a forward trying to establish himself. Kolo Muani has shown that he can find the net, but Juventus need him to be more decisive when chances arrive.

If he can become more clinical and trust his instincts, he could make a greater contribution to the team. For now, his performance against Cagliari has left further questions about his ability to deliver consistently.
