Nicolas Tagliafico came close to joining Juventus from Lyon during the last transfer window, but the move fell through. The Bianconeri were waiting for Atalanta to complete their move for Juan Cabal before pursuing the Argentine left-back.
On deadline day, Tagliafico agreed a deal with Juventus and was expected to make the switch. However, Juventus could not sell Cabal, and their attempt to sign the Lyon defender broke down. Atletico Madrid were also interested that day, but they too failed to complete the transfer before the window closed.
Juventus keep Tagliafico on their shortlist
Juventus still need another left back, and Tagliafico remains their preferred target. The club are expected to renew their efforts when the transfer window reopens, hoping to complete a deal that came close to being finalised previously.
According to Calciomercato, Juventus remain keen on signing the Argentine and have been monitoring him this season. They hope to find an agreement in the next window, keeping the defender in their plans as they consider how to strengthen the position.
Cabal has recently returned from injury, but he is not a player Luciano Spalletti particularly favours. The manager would rather not rely on him if the club can secure a better replacement. That could make Tagliafico an even more significant target.

Cabal’s future could influence negotiations
Juventus may need to resolve Cabal’s situation before making another move for Tagliafico. Their previous pursuit depended on selling the defender, and the failure to do so ultimately prevented the transfer from happening.
The club will have to find a workable solution in the market if they want to revisit the deal. Tagliafico’s interest in the proposed move, alongside Juventus’ continued attention, could help negotiations, although an agreement is not guaranteed.
For now, Juventus appear ready to keep tracking the Lyon defender ahead of the next transfer window. If they can address the issues that disrupted their previous attempt, a move for Tagliafico could become possible.
