Manchester United have made their worst start to a Premier League campaign in 40 years and suffered another loss on Tuesday night when Atletico Madrid beat them 2-0 in the Champions League.
The crisis exploded further Tuesday night after a key Manchester United star took aim at the club’s hierarchy for failing to strengthen the squad properly in the summer.

Manchester United star tears into the club chiefs
Manchester United were not expected to beat Atletico Madrid, given their current form. But what happened after the match has further worsened the crisis at Old Trafford.
Lisandro Martinez, whose form has been a problem this season, lashed out at the club’s director of football Jason Wilcox for not doing enough in the summer transfer window.
He said the club didn’t bring in enough quality players to improve the squad and support Michael Carrick after securing Champions League football last season.
“I expect more from our technical director. I have to be honest. And also, as players, we have to do more”, Martinez told Amazon Prime.
“We had a fantastic season last season, and now we expect more from the top, from upstairs, to bring in more players to compete, because many teams have brought in many players as well.”

Leeds won’t get a better opportunity than this
The Whites could hardly ask for a better opportunity to make a statement than Sunday’s clash with Manchester United at Elland Road. Their rivals are struggling for consistency, and Lisandro Martinez’s latest comments have only added another talking point ahead of a fixture that already carries enormous significance.
Daniel Farke’s side must focus on the pitch rather than getting distracted by the noise around Manchester United. But the visitors look vulnerable, and Leeds need to exploit that uncertainty from the first whistle.
Elland Road should be rocking, and the players must feed off that atmosphere rather than allow the occasion to overwhelm them. Leeds showed against Arsenal that they can compete with top opposition, but now they need to turn a promising performance into points.
Manchester United must solve their own problems. Leeds’ job is to make them worse. A win would deliver precious points, bragging rights, and a huge confidence boost. Farke’s side simply cannot afford to waste this opportunity.
