While Manchester United's season leapt significantly from bad to worse on Tuesday evening, Leeds United's preparations for the two meeting on Sunday have continued quietly at Thorp Arch.

‌

‌

Daniel Farke has a week from the Arsenal defeat last Saturday to get his team prepared for the visit by Manchester United to Elland Road on Sunday. After only having one full training session with some players before the Arsenal game because of the international break and the late return of some squad members, Farke will be relishing a week on the training pitch to get things right for the big game on Sunday afternoon.

‌

In contrast, the Man United squad travelled Monday to Madrid for their Champions League clash against Atletico on Tuesday night, with the side beaten 2-0 by the Spanish club. That defeat was further amplified by the reaction of two players, most notably Lisandroo Martinez, who blasted Man United's technical director Jason Wilcox in a post-match interview.

Martinez said: "I have to control myself a lot. But sometimes it's a reflection of how our club is at the moment, you know?

"I expected more from our technical director. I have to be honest, you know? And also, as players, we have to do more, but it's also important when you make a strong squad to be ready for these kinds of nights. I think last season we did everything; we created a base to build an amazing team. But this is something to be honest and to prove something, you know?

"Yeah, it's annoying, disappointing, to come here and not see my team trying to get an amazing result here. It's disappointing."

The Argentine defender's stinging criticism was soon followed by team-mate Amad, who dubbed Manchester United's loss to Atletico Madrid a "f***ing disgrace", adding "I have no words" as a poor run of form continued.

Now, former Premier League owner and talkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan has said that if the Manchester United players turn up at Elland Road and repeat the sort of performance they gave in Madrid, they're going to get battered by Leeds.

“They have got Leeds United at the weekend”, Jordan said on talkSPORT. “If they turn up at Leeds and think they can put half a performance in, Leeds will batter them.”
