Brighton boss reveals defender will miss Conference League clash

**Fabian Hurzeler has confirmed Pascal Struijk will miss Brighton’s Conference League clash with Kauno Zalgiris as the defender’s workload is carefully managed.**

Struijk returned from the international break with a fitness issue and played 60 minutes in the 2-0 win over Sunderland, in which he was sent off, but Brighton will now give him time to recover ahead of the weekend.

The defender’s suspension has since been overturned, however, making him available for the weekend’s game against Crystal Palace.

“We try to take care of the health of the players,” Hurzeler said.

“Pascal Struijk had some issues in the international break.

“He played 60 minutes against Sunderland and now we try to manage him and therefore tomorrow he won’t be available.

“But hopefully he will be back at the end of the week for Crystal Palace.”

Hurzeler also provided an update on Femi Azeez, who is still adapting to the physical demands at Brighton.

“Some players need more time to adapt to the intensity,” he said.

“It’s a little bit similar to Zadok \[Yohanna\] that we try to give them the environment where they can adapt to our demands, to how we want to play.

“These kinds of players might need a little bit longer but there’s not a big issue, something I can report to you.

“Just a thing of adapting and let’s see how fast he will adapt and then I’m sure that he will make his first-team debut quite soon.”
