Fulham manager fined $33,200 over comments about Manchester United

Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa was fined $33,200 and was warned Wednesday over comments he made after his football team's 1-1 Premier League draw with Manchester United.

Arbeloa accepted a charge of acting in an "improper manner" after claiming match officials would "not let Manchester United lose" following the Sept. 20 match at Craven Cottage, according to ESPN.

"I think all fouls for them," the Spanish coach said after the game, referring to Man U, who lost to their crosstown rival Manchester City the previous weekend following a contentious goal.

"Every decision was for them. And I knew, I knew after the game against Man City that they don't let Manchester United lose here," Arbeloa added.

The independent commission said in written reasons published Wednesday that Arbeloa's remarks suggested "bias" by match officials and potentially "an element of pre-meditation" aimed at compensating for an error in a previous match.

Arbeloa, who joined Fulham this season after leaving Real Madrid, accepted the charge brought against him.
