Newcastle United supporters have shared their thoughts on the new version of The Blaydon Races announced by the club.
Newcastle United have launched a new version of The Blaydon Races song ahead of Saturday’s next Premier League match at St James’ Park against Aston Villa (5:30pm kick-off).
The song will be accompanied by a pre-match performance from local artist Hector Gannet.
It follows the club’s announcement of a new, refined crest and rebrand of St James’ Park, including a new logo.

The club have aimed to preserve the song’s 160-year legacy while strengthening its impact inside the stadium with this new version. Newcastle United supporters react to the new version of The Blaydon Races
As always with changes made by the club, opinions from supporters have been mixed on social media.
We asked Shields Gazette and NewcastleWorld readers what they thought about the new Blaydon Races song.
@Aron_Johansen wrote: “Much better than last version. Can imagine it'll sound mint before an evening game.”
@LEAZESkid: “Much better than the ----- we come out to now, the current version is far too fast and nobody can sing it together. Look at all of the successful walk out songs, all very slow tempo.”
@Toontoon089: “Think it’s superb; always been done too fast for me.”
@drandyhills: “Like the slowing down, know all the words etc. C major up from G major - that's a bit of a stretch for my vocal chords.”
But not everyone was so positive.
@xFlowers_AK47x: “Changing the badge, stadium and now this? NUFC isn’t the same anymore sadly.”
@Cee528516893131: “Sam Fender version of Blaydon Races this club is an absolute embarrassment.”
And other fans were focused on more important issues...
@VicFlange33: “I'd much rather we just concentrated on winning games tbf
@MOZZA_NUFC_84: “Who cares more like ? We want to see performance on the pitch, not ---- like this !”
