Leeds United winger Noah Okafor cemented cult hero status last time we faced Man Utd, scoring two at the Stretford End in a famous win.
Leeds’ remarkable turnaround over the past 11 months under Daniel Farke has been exemplified by an encouraging start to this season.
Defeat to Arsenal was a tough one to take, though. This Sunday gives us the best opportunity to put that right, at home to a currently crisis-ridden Man Utd.
Man Utd’s Lisandro Martinez takes aim at board in buildup to Leeds United
If ever there were a time to play that lot from down the M62, this weekend would be it. It’s culminating into a perfect storm, looking at the meltdown at Old Trafford.
A poor performance and draw at home to winless Spurs was followed by murmurs of pressure for Michael Carrick. So, a 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League didn’t help, reduced to 10 men after conceding inside a minute.
After full-time, centre-back Lisandro Martinez was quick to point the finger at the recruitment.
“Sometimes (the defeat) is a reflection in the mirror of our club at the moment,” Martinez told Prime Video Sport. “We had a fantastic season last season, and we expected more from the top (board). More players to compete… I expect more, honestly, from everyone.
“Yes, 100%. I expect more from our technical director… It’s important you make a strong squad for these types of nights. We come here, and I’m not seeing my team trying to get a result here; it’s disappointing.”
Not only are the players looking out of form an unfit, while the manager struggles. The whole club is in disarray from top to bottom.
Noah Okafor “ready” for Leeds United v Man Utd in social media message
Another Noah Okafor masterclass would be a terrific development after his two-goal haul at Old Trafford last season.
The Swiss winger didn’t have a good day at the Emirates, but he clearly relishes being on home soil with the Elland Road crowd behind him.
He took to Instagram with a quick message to fans about his mindset for Sunday:
We all know that a performance akin to the one vs Arsenal would go a long way towards getting back to winning ways.
The way Them Lot are playing could play into our hands too. If things stay the same for both sides, it’s definitely in our hands.
Okafor’s message here suggests we are raring to go on Sunday.
