Blackburn Rovers potentially missed out on £2.3m as a result of Manchester City's breaches of Premier League financial rules.

English football has been rocked by the guilty verdict on Man City's 115 charges from the Premier League. City have appealed the decision and have maintained their innocence throughout.

If City did profit from manufacturing sponsorship to boost their revenues, it means other teams missed out, including Rovers.

Despite not being in the Premier League since 2012, the charges date back to the period in which they were still at the top table.

As a result, figures crunched by BBC Sport have revealed the amount each team has missed out on. That's valued as lost prize money based on league placing in the case of Blackburn Rovers.

Following Sheikh Mansour takeover in 2008, City finished above Rovers in every campaign before the club were relegated to the Championship.

Since finishing fifth in 1991-92, the last season before the formation of the Premier League, Manchester City's highest placing had been eighth in 2004-05.

Their £2.3m pales in significance to the eye-watering £120m calculated that Tottenham Hotspur missed out on. This is mainly due to revenue they lost by City taking their Champions League place.

If the guilty verdict is upheld, those who have been particularly wronged could lodge compensation claims.
