‘Big market’ - Agent goes public on Newcastle United interest amid fresh transfer approach

David Otorbi’s agent has insisted that the player is in “no rush” to leave Valencia amid Newcastle United interest.

It was reported earlier this week that the Magpies sent scouts to watch the winger in a 2-2 draw with Racing Santander at the weekend. He scored a 65th-minute equaliser - not enough to drag Valencia out of the relegation zone.

Ortbori made his Valencia ranks in 2024 - becoming the club’s youngest ever debutant. Since then, the prospect has spent time in the youth setup as well as Spain under-18s.

But an impressive start to the season has resulted in Ortorbi breaking into the senior ranks. Premier League clubs are now on high alert after just a handful of appearances for Valencia, who sit 19th in La Liga.

David Otorbi agent message

Speaking to Marca, his agent, Nacho Gallart, claimed he is happy to stay at Valencia and develop further. He said: “He’s a lad who has a big market, and he always has. Quite a few clubs have called us in recent weeks. It’s true that many clubs have called us, especially from the Premier League.

“We’re very happy at Valencia and, for now, our only objective is to keep learning, keep getting minutes and help the team if the manager thinks it’s appropriate. We want it to be slow. We believe that’s what’s necessary and we don’t want to rush.”

Newcastle United transfer approach

Sporting director Ross Wilson actively aimed to reduce the age of Newcastle’s squad over the summer. The likes of Sean Steur (18), Ewen Jaouen (20), Aladji Bamba (20), Bazoumana Toure (20) and Matias Fernandez-Pardo (21) over the summer.

Otorbi, at 18, certainly fits the bill for Newcastle 2.0. The Magpies have been keen to bolster the youth ranks since the Saudi-backed takeover but there is a need to give Matthias Jaissle experience.
