Manchester United have major concerns about the team's recurring mistakes and failure to adapt to the same situations.

The Red Devils have won just two of their nine games across all competitions this season, and recent defeats have raised major concerns about their performances.

Michael Carrick is coming under increasing pressure as a result, and his failure to help his team adapt to issues they are constantly facing has become a significant problem.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that the most worrying issue for Carrick is how his team have folded when they come under pressure.

Games against Man City and Tottenham, both of whom earned results despite having just ten men, underlined the ongoing concerns about a lack of fight in the side.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid's 2-0 win in the Champions League on Tuesday only added to those concerns, with Carrick's side failing to stand up and be counted in Europe.

Could Michael Carrick be sacked by Man United?

Brown told Football Insider on 12 October that Man United have no immediate plans to sack Carrick and believe he is capable of turning their poor run of form around.

However, recent results have raised serious concerns about his side's performances, and their failure to address long-term issues has led to concerns about the future.

Should Man United continue to struggle in upcoming games against Leeds, Como and Bournemouth, serious questions may be asked of Carrick's management and his position.

"As I've said, I think Carrick is safe in the job for now, but there are some major concerns," Brown told Football Insider.

"The biggest problem Man United have had this season is that they do not adapt, they don't seem to learn from their mistakes, and they keep making the same errors every week.

"It's madness, and it's cost them important points when they're losing or drawing games against teams with ten men because they haven't stood up to be counted.

"There's no fight in the team, no belief, and that's when it becomes a problem because you want to see people stepping up and putting things right after these results.

"But they'll go out at the weekend and nothing will have changed, they'll make the same old mistakes and Leeds will take advantage of it because they're a good side.

"I always say a certain amount of blame has to fall on the players, but the manager has got to adapt, he's got to change something otherwise this run is not going to end."

Who could be in line to replace Carrick?

Amid ongoing speculation surrounding Carrick's future at Old Trafford as his side continue to leak goals and lose games, there has been one eye on his potential replacement.

Man United are unlikely to face any shortage of candidates if the position does become available, but some big names have already been tipped to take over in the near future.

Football Insider revealed on 8 October that Antonio Conte is on Man United's shortlist and would be considered as an option to replace Carrick if they pull the trigger.

This comes after his confession that he would like to take over at a club that has lost sight of its history, an accusation that has widely been aimed at the Red Devils.

Given his wealth of experience and management style, including success in the Premier League, there is a feeling that Conte could be high on Man United's list of options.
