Everton boss David Moyes has nothing but praise for Tottenham Hotspur star Guglielmo Vicario.
Tottenham Hotspur spent close to £400m on ten new players in the summer transfer window to bounce back from a disastrous campaign. Head coach Roberto De Zerbi oversaw a massive squad rebuild, bringing in players that fit into the style of play.
However, Spurs have had a poor season so far, failing to win any of their Premier League games, while they have also been eliminated from the EFL Cup. The arrivals of Savio, Omar Marmoush and Mykhailo Mudryk have done little to turn their fortunes around after a close escape from relegation last season.
Dominic Solanke has been left as the only recognised striker to Roberto De Zerbi after Richarlison’s omission from the Premier League squad. And while Solanke scored the decisive equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United last weekend, the England international demonstrated that he cannot be the club’s only source of goals.
Everton enter race for Tottenham-linked Dinamo Zagreb striker
A striker appears to be the need of the hour as goals have been extremely difficult to come by for the North London club. Recent reports suggest Tottenham have been keeping tabs on Dinamo Zagreb striker Dion Beljo.
Dion Beljo started the season like a house on fire, bagging 12 goals and six assists in 13 appearances for Dinamo Zagreb in all competitions. The 6 ft 5in Croatian international enjoyed a prolific 2025/26 campaign with 38 goals in 48 appearances, and he was subsequently called up to the summer’s World Cup squad.
However, Spurs aren’t the only club interested in the Dinamo Zagreb star. According to a report from TEAMtalk, Everton have entered the race for Beljo ahead of the winter transfer window. The Toffees wanted to sign a striker on the transfer deadline day, as David Moyes eyed a back-up for Thierno Barry. However, a new No.9 did not arrive.
Thierno Barry has started the new season well with three goals in six games. However, with Beto joining Fiorentina, Barry has no real competition at Everton. As a result, Moyes wants a new striker and has set his sights on Beljo after his productive start to the campaign.
So, Spurs could face competition from Everton for the big Croat. The Lilywhites must act quickly to sign Beljo if they believe he’s the man to solve their goalscoring woes. At the same time, the club must find an alternative plan, as De Zerbi’s squad is still in desperate need of reinforcements to avoid another relegation battle.
