Dele-Bashiru comes off bench to score brilliant goal in Lazio's win over Juventus
Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru opened his goal account for the 2026/2027 campaign after scoring in Lazio's emphatic 3-0 victory over Juventus at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday night.
The Nigerian international, who endured a difficult start to the season, came off the bench to find the back of the net towards the closing stages of the encounter.
The former Manchester City midfielder scored Lazio's third goal of the contest with a brilliant individual effort, embarking on a superb solo run from his own half before firing the ball into the bottom corner.
The strike marked Dele-Bashiru's first goal for Lazio since the beginning of the current campaign, having featured in four matches across all competitions.
Dele-Bashiru was introduced in the second half with 21 minutes remaining, replacing Dutch midfielder Kenneth Taylor as Lazio sought to maintain their advantage and put the result beyond the reach of their hosts.
His appearance came after a challenging period at the start of the campaign, with fitness issues affecting his availability for both club and country.
His injury problems forced him to miss Nigeria's 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying encounters against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
At club level, the former Manchester City player also missed four league matches against Genoa, Udinese, AC Milan and Venezia while recovering from the injury.
The Nigerian international will now be eager to build on his performance and translate his contribution against Juventus into more consistent displays as the campaign progresses.
