Douglas Luiz played a decisive role as Juventus beat Lecce 2-0 in Serie A, scoring a goal and providing an assist. It ended a two-match winless run for the Bianconeri.
Lecce would have hoped to exploit Juventus’ lack of confidence, but the visitors started strongly and made life difficult for their hosts. Juventus moved the ball with purpose, created chances and established a two-goal lead before the interval.
Luiz was central to their attacking performance, helping Juventus take control and putting them in a strong position to secure three points. However, the visitors struggled to maintain that level after the break, raising concerns despite the result.
Luiz shines in Juventus victory
The midfielder’s contribution was important after a difficult run of results. His goal and assist helped Juventus produce the kind of first-half performance they have struggled to deliver consistently in recent weeks.
After half-time, however, the Bianconeri became sloppy in possession and looked less assured. Their passing deteriorated, allowing Lecce to grow in confidence and put them under pressure. Juventus held on, but their decline was noticeable.
Against one of Serie A’s stronger sides, similar mistakes could have proved costly. A team with greater quality might have punished Juventus’ loose possession and turned the contest around, even after falling behind.

Juventus must improve across 90 minutes
Luiz acknowledged that his side had performed well before the break but lost focus afterwards. Speaking via Football Italia, he said:
“We’re happy with the game and the goals. We had a good first half but slept a bit in the second. We have to improve and play better for the whole game.”
Juventus can take confidence from the result and Luiz’s influence, but they must manage matches more effectively. Carrying their first-half quality into the closing stages will be crucial if they want more consistent results in Serie A.
