Juventus’ disappointing form this season has raised questions about Luciano Spalletti’s ability to turn things around, but injuries to several key players could offer one explanation for their struggles.
The Bianconeri remain one of Italy’s leading clubs, yet their performances have been so inconsistent that even a midtable finish would represent a major disappointment. Spalletti is under considerable pressure as the team continues to struggle, and he knows that managers can quickly lose their jobs when results fail to improve.
Juventus have endured a difficult campaign, but the absence of important players may have played a significant role in their problems. With several stars unavailable, the manager has had to work with a squad that has not always been at full strength.
Bergomi highlights Juventus’ injury problems
Former Italy international Beppe Bergomi believes the absence of key players has affected Juventus and argues that their returns could help the team rediscover its form.
He specifically identified Kenan Yildiz, Manuel Locatelli and Khephren Thuram as important players whose availability could make a difference. Bergomi believes their absence should be considered when assessing the team’s disappointing performances.
Speaking via Calciomercato, he compared the situation with discussions about Napoli’s injury problems and questioned when Juventus would have their key players available again.
“Since we’re saying that Napoli’s absences are crucial, we, for Juve, have to ask ourselves when Yildiz, Locatelli, and Thuram will return, and they seem to me to be the three best players they have out .”

Questions remain over Juventus’ identity
Bergomi also questioned whether Juventus can change their approach and find a clearer identity as the season progresses. The team’s recent performances have lacked consistency, leaving doubts about how effectively Spalletti has been able to implement his ideas.
He added: ” Can this team do something different or will it maintain this confusion, this lack of identity ?”
The return of injured players could give Spalletti more options and help restore balance to the team. However, Juventus will still need to improve their performances and find greater consistency if they are to recover from their difficult start to the campaign.
