Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is attracting interest from several Serie A clubs, with Juventus keen to bring the Olympique Marseille midfielder to Turin. However, the Bianconeri are not alone in pursuing his signature, as Fiorentina have also emerged as potential contenders ahead of the January transfer window.
Juventus have been monitoring Hojbjerg since last summer and were interested in securing his services during the previous transfer window. However, they were unable to complete a deal because Marseille preferred a permanent transfer rather than a temporary arrangement. The Danish midfielder also rejected an opportunity to join Newcastle United.
That decision appeared to leave Juventus with an opportunity to pursue the player, but the Bianconeri could not match the financial offer Newcastle were prepared to make. As a result, they were unable to reach an agreement and have since considered alternative ways of bringing him to Turin.
A loan deal remains an option for the Bianconeri, although Marseille were not willing to accept that proposal during the summer. Juventus could therefore revisit the situation in January or wait until the end of the season before making another attempt.
Fiorentina emerge as rivals for Hojbjerg
The situation has become more complicated for Juventus because another Italian club is now interested in the midfielder. According to Calciomercato, Fiorentina are keen to sign Hojbjerg during the January transfer window as they look to strengthen their squad.
La Viola are reportedly prepared to make an approach, putting them directly in competition with Juventus for the player’s signature. Their interest could make negotiations more difficult for the Bianconeri, who have already struggled to agree on suitable terms with Marseille.
Fiorentina’s involvement means Juventus cannot assume they will have a clear path towards signing the midfielder. If Marseille continue to demand a permanent transfer, the financial requirements could also influence which club is best placed to complete the deal.

Juventus hope to retain an advantage
Despite the competition, Juventus may believe they have an advantage because of their standing in Italian football. The Bianconeri remain an attractive destination, particularly if they can secure a top four finish and demonstrate that they are capable of competing at the highest level.
Hojbjerg would have an important decision to make if both clubs present serious offers. Juventus will hope their ambitions and status can convince him to choose Turin over Florence, but they must first find an agreement that satisfies Marseille.
