Joao Mario spoke to our media team after helping Fiorentina overcome Sassuolo 4-2 on Monday evening.
**Fiorentina had the right attitude today and earned the win.**
“It's a massive result for us. Winning this game was more important than playing well. The three points mean so much to the team and the club because it's always easier to work after a win. We're really happy and we want to continue like this.”
**It was a topsy-turvy game: you fell behind, then took the lead, then they equalized before you got the third and the fourth goals.**
“We need to use our heads when we're defending. We're creating lots of chances and we need to take them but we also need to keep things tighter at the back so that we don't concede so many. We've working on that. We let in two today but we scored four and won the game and that's the most important thing.”
**You cover so much ground, playing on the left or the right, attacking and defending. You were heavily involved again tonight in the build-up to the goals.**
“My best quality is getting forward but you have to know how to defend too. I work on the defensive side of my game every day, as well as the attacking side. The coach has shown his faith in me by picking me and I try to repay him with my performances.”
**The win is good for morale, for the fans and for the standings. Now you have a week to prepare for the game against Juventus at the Franchi.**
“Yes, it was important to win for the fans too as they always get behind us all game long. We have to keep working and try to win every match – that has to be our mentality. The next one is going to be very tough so we must work hard to win it.”
**Over 2000 Viola fans made the trip to Mapei Stadium to cheer you on today.**
“Yeah, they're incredible. They help us so much, especially in this recent spell when results haven't been that great. The fans are so important. They showed again today that they're the best.”
