Michele Di Gregorio is unlikely to leave Bournemouth during the January transfer window, despite previously being linked with a move to Bologna. The Serie A club had reportedly considered bringing the goalkeeper back to Italy, but their interest appears to have cooled in recent weeks.
Di Gregorio joined the Premier League side at the start of this season on loan after Luciano Spalletti made it clear that he would not be Juventus’ first choice between the posts. The decision left the goalkeeper looking for an opportunity elsewhere, and Bournemouth offered him the chance to continue his career in England.
His situation has not been straightforward, however, as he has mostly featured in cup competitions since arriving at the Cherries. Despite limited opportunities, he has continued working hard in training and remains determined to earn more minutes.
Bologna interest appears to have faded
Bologna were reportedly interested in signing Di Gregorio in January because they wanted to make him their first-choice goalkeeper. A return to Serie A could have offered him a clearer route to regular football, particularly given his current role at Bournemouth.
However, according to Tuttomercatoweb, that possibility is now unlikely after the Italian side cooled their interest over recent weeks. The report indicates that Di Gregorio is expected to remain in England and complete his loan spell with Bournemouth this season.
That development means the goalkeeper will have to continue competing for opportunities at his current club. Although he has not yet established himself as their number one, his commitment and performances have reportedly been appreciated by the club.

Bournemouth could make his move permanent
The Cherries are said to be satisfied with Di Gregorio’s contributions so far and could look to turn his loan into a permanent transfer. Such a decision would represent a show of confidence in the goalkeeper, even though he has not yet secured a regular starting position.
A permanent move could also give him greater stability as he attempts to establish himself in English football. Rather than having to consider another change of club after the current campaign, he would have the opportunity to focus on earning the trust of the coaching staff.
