Valon Behrami does not think Luciano Spalletti deserves praise for the win against Napoli

Juventus may have celebrated their victory over Napoli too enthusiastically, with the result coming after just one game following a difficult spell. The Bianconeri have struggled for much of the season, and one positive result does not necessarily mean they have returned to their best level.

Their defeat to Genoa last week had increased the pressure on the team and forced Luciano Spalletti to reassess how his players were performing. The manager needed a response, and the match against Napoli offered an opportunity to restore some confidence.

Juventus did not produce a perfect performance, but they secured the three points against a Napoli side that has also struggled to establish itself as one of the strongest teams in the league recently. While the victory was important, it should not automatically be viewed as proof that the Bianconeri have overcome their problems.

Behrami questions the reaction to Juventus victory

Despite the team’s inconsistent performances, the result attracted considerable praise in the media. Spalletti was widely credited with helping Juventus overcome the challenge, particularly given that Napoli are one of his former clubs.

However, Valon Behrami does not believe there has been enough improvement to justify the celebrations. Having worked in the studio during the match, he felt Juventus still looked short of the quality expected from a team with their ambitions.

The former midfielder was particularly unconvinced by the performance and questioned why Spalletti and his players were receiving so many compliments after the victory. He believes there were few signs that the team had made significant progress.

Behrami explains his concerns

Speaking via Calciomercato, Behrami suggested that the main positive for Spalletti was the support he received from his players, rather than the quality of their football.

“The only thing the coach takes away from this match is the feeling of having so many men with him, on his side.

“As for the rest, however, there aren’t many positive things. He speaks from the heart, but honestly I saw a flat and low team, I don’t understand all this happiness and compliments considering what is expected from a coach like him in terms of quality of play .”

His assessment highlights the need for Juventus to show greater consistency before they can be considered back on track. Beating Napoli was a welcome result, but the Bianconeri must produce stronger performances in their coming matches to demonstrate that genuine progress has been made.
